The need to be socially accepted is very strong in us humans. I believe peer approval is more than just a desire or a factor for consideration when we make decisions and take action. It is a basic human need, just like shelter, food and sunlight. It is hard wired into us on an instinctual level, that we must get along with the rest of the tribe for the sake of our survival. Early humans wouldn’t have survived long if they were outcast from the tribe, in the same way they wouldn’t survive long without food and water. Equally, on an energetic level, it is not just a spiritual cliche, we are all one. All cells in one organism. As such, we are so influenced and affected by the energies of the people around us, it is very hard to resist peer pressure and go against the mainstream.
