The Waste Man at the Eden Project. He is built out of the average electronic waste one person throws away in their lifetime.

I don’t write on environmental issues usually, even though it’s a topic I feel very passionately about. I feel there are other people who specialise in this area that can cover the important ideas much more comprehensively than I can; Julia Butterfly Hill or Vandana Shiva, for instance, are two women whose work I admire greatly. My good friend Tonya Kay is also very articulate and very vocal (you can read her regular monthly column for EcoHearth magazine here).

But I was confronted by people’s lack of awareness around issues that I consider to be startlingly obvious so many times in the past month I felt called to write on it. It saddens me to say that I probably contributed more to landfill in August, than I did in the previous seven months of the year put together.
